MODA

Founded in 2013 by architects Ben Klumper and Dustin Couzens, Modern Office of Design + Architecture is a Calgary-based practice working across the fields of architecture, urbanism, landscape and design. Ben and Dustin have a combined 40+ years of professional experience and bring a calculated mix of innovation and fiscal responsibility to all of the practice’s projects.

Since 2013, MODA has completed a total of 4 single- family residential projects in which – through working closely with a variety of home builders – have not only developed an innate understanding of this type of project, but also a creative strategy in ensuring that every detail, regardless of scale, is not only met, but exceeded.

MODA begins every project via a ‘round table’ discussion between the client and their team, in which they listen intently to the client’s wishes, desires and hopes for their new house. After this initial meeting, MODA develops a series of physical models and high-level floor plans that demonstrate a multitude of ways in which they can achieve that vision.

After working with the client to determine the design direction and fully develop the concept, they produce a fully immersive 3D model of the home, complete with materials, textures, and furnishings, so the client can walk around their house virtually before construction even begins. This strategy takes all the guessing out of the process and ensures that what is built is exactly what you are asking for.
